Homeless Child is dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children driven to the streets either to live, sleep or work. We provide shelter and care for children who have broken all ties with their family or have suffered physical, sexual or mental abuse. We also work in poor communities helping to facilitate local community projects that provide social networks for families at risk. This work is very important to prevent more children fleeing to the streets.

Born in a small village in Southern Ireland, Sean Mulryan took up his trade as a mason at a very young age, working on the construction of small houses. Shortly afterwards he met his wife, Bernardine Mulryan who was also from the local area. Together they set about trying to set up their own business, mortgaging their first house to gain a loan.
Through their intelligence and determination, together they managed to set up a small company called Ballymore named after the village in Ireland the Mulryan family have lived in for over 30 years. Today, Ballymore is one of the largest and most successful construction and property companies in the world.
Inspired by his father’s charitable deeds, Sean Mulryan has always had a deep desire to help street children. A brief visit to Brazil shocked the Mulryans, particularly in Rio where they saw hundreds of children sleeping on the streets or asking for money at traffic lights. They were also horrified by the level of violence.
As a family, the Mulryans decided to set up their own charity, Homeless Child. Since its foundation in Ireland in 2001, Homeless Child has helped develop several important projects in Rio de Janeiro. In 2006 we officially registered Homeless Child as a Brazilian charity and began to establish local partners and local government support. In 2008 The Mulryan Family Foundation was officially registered as an Irish charitable entity, designed specifically to support Homeless Child help street children, as well as other charitable causes.
